The Race

The Trans-Tasman race of 1951, from Auckland to Sydney, was the source of many stories of significance.  As such it will be given its own section separate from other histories detailed here.   I will say in brief that Leda was the first New Zealand yacht to win line honors in this race, to much rejoicing.  An important aspect of this event is that Kit and Erica Wilson, the Wilson brothers’ wives, were crew members for this race, certainly an early showing for women in offshore races.   I will be writing up this event in more detail soon.
